The Operational Excellence Body of Knowledge (OEBK) is a set of living documents built with the following guidelines:

  1. The OBEK is intended to be platform and methodology agnostic. We support each organization customizing its implementation strategy based on their unique needs.
  2. This is not intended to be an inclusive list of process tools. Excellent libraries already exist, and we will look to leverage that work as this develops. The OEBK is intended to be a concept library and connect these core concepts in a way that highlights their importance and relationship to each other. We will reference tools, and provide details when necessary, but the value of this knowledge base is connecting concepts together in a simple and digestible manner.
  3. The OEBK is currently scheduled to have the following modules:
    1. Overview
    2. Quality and Improvement Methods
    3. Process Basics
    4. Process Modeling and Frameworks
    5. Process Design and Operating Structures
    6. Process Mapping
    7. Understanding the Customer
    8. Measurement and Data Management
    9. Process and Root Cause Analysis
    10. Management Practices
    11. Implementation Practices
    12. Glossary
  4. Articles are living documents that will change and improve as people provide input and the business environment changes.
  5. Members are encouraged to suggest articles and otherwise contribute. Articles will be subject to our editorial process (not all will be approved), but credit will be attributed for any published work.
  6. Articles will be concise.
  7. Articles will include pictures or diagrams whenever possible.

Additional capabilities will be added to the OEBK as the content grows and usage dictates it.

The Poet-Net Solution

Poet-Net is designed to support any size Operational Excellence Program. It is methodology agnostic, focusing on proven best practices and allowing organizations to set their level of engagement. We provide tools to support large improvement projects and a knowledge management solution that allows cost effective training and continuous improvement efforts.

One of the challenges with starting any OEP is the upfront costs and resource commitment. Training, full-time staff, and consulting costs can add up quickly. The Poet-Net solution allows a program leader to engage his or her organization at a fraction of the cost of a single FTE, and then grow the OEP as employees gain experience with the content and tools provided.
